Everett belongs to all of us, let's manage it sensibly
A new Stadium will increase property values and for condos (i.e. affordable housing - this is Cassie Franklin's definition) not low income housing.
This will make housing worse in Everett, not better. Cassie Franklin's team asked for permission to purchase 16 plots of commercial property with 20 million dollars allocated for purchase and business relocation. Two properties alone: the gas station in the construction zone and Bayside Café are 5 million dollars alone to purchase.
This budget is neither sensible nor realistic. This results in more funds and bonds as the city doesn’t have to purchase the minimum amount of property needed.
This stadium debt which the city will be forced to service from the general fund will result in reduction of services. We won’t get our pools back, get less park rangers and much less services to deal with the homeless crisis. This construction will not address the problem but push the homeless into our neighborhoods
